The West Louisville Chess Club, lead by Corbin Seavers is doing a great job offering opportunities for our youth, to learn a game of strategy that has many principles that can be applied to real life in a practical way. The West Louisville Chess Club is a great asset to the community and we are glad to see it be available to make a positive impact.
An added blessing is that the club is having the Dr Frank Simon Chess Classic, named in honor of Dr Frank G Simon coming up on Saturday, January 18th.
The West Louisville Chess Club are accepting 8 teams (16 players). Three teams have already pre-registered. And Corbin is expecting three more teams in a week. So that still leaves space for 2 more teams.
Dr Simon is so appreciative to be honored in this way for his strong support of the west end community and his strong desire to be an influence on children's' educational opportunities. He regrets that he will be in Washington DC at the time of the event and will not be able to be there to lend his support. We of course will have a KFA representative there in his absence and we wish the best to all the teams participating in the event.
